Prepping for Hurricane Season 2026

Yesterday I shared about hurricanes in The Villages and I don’t hype the hurricane or prepping.  Worst case is you lose electric a few days, maybe some wind damage but generally minor.  Yes we have underground utilities and that doesn’t mean we can’t lose electric, the transformers and the power lines supplying The Villages are above ground.  During Irma our area lost power for a week, it can happen.  I will get into electric later but for now the planning for a few days is what is important.

Cash is king, I went to a grocery store and they had lost connection for credit or debit cards, CASH only.  Going into hurricane season we have a few hundred dollars stashed away just in case in a hidden place.  Next buy some extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, you will use it in December.  Food, got a grill pick up an extra tank, might be the way you prepare meals for a few days, think canned goods as power might be out so don’t depend on freezer.  Water!  Drinking and if prolong flushing toilets, fill up jugs, sinks etc.  More tips tomorrow!

Good morning Dick. Don't miss the days of being prepared for a hurricane. My advice, prepare early when supplies are readily available. Enjoy your day.

Good Saturday morning, Dick. These are good tips to share. It is easy to forget that you might need more cash during adverse conditions.

Dick Betts we also have underground cables in the development I live in, but the power coming in to the development are above ground cables.  That means we are as prone to power outages as anyone else.
