This morning, just before landing, when I saw land, I realized this is my new home country for a few years. As expected, Passport Control was a long line - a couple of hours, and so was the rental car pickup! Just made it longer for my kitties to be in their carriers, and Izzi kept telling me she wanted OUT. On the plane she meowed a few times and wanted on my lap (she is NOT a lap cat...), but she stayed on my lap. I gave Gabapentin to Lucy, as she goes bonkers with too many people, and knew TSA would be a nightmare. She did well, and took her out a couple of times, but she got too nervous.
With FOUR large suitcases, thought there would be luggage handlers at baggage, but NOPE. I was on my own. That was a treat. May need to rethink this when I return.
Heading towards Quarteira in the morning, and to my Airbnb for 3 weeks. Will hit the ground running to identify a rental for a one-year lease.
