On May 11, 2026, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide existing home sales grew 0.2% to annual rate of 4.02 million homes in April of 2026 from March of 2026, but unchanged 0.0% from April of 2025.
There were 1.47 million homes supplies of available inventory in April of 2026, rose 5.8% from March of 2026, and 1.4% from April of 2025.
There were 4.4 months available inventory in April of 2026 up from to 4.2 months in March of 2026, and from 4.3 months in April of 2025.
On average it took 32 days to sell a home in April of 2026, lower from 41 days in March of 2026, but gained from 29 days in April 2025.
First time buyers acquired 33.0% of homes in April of 2026, higher from 32.0% in March of 2026, but down from 34.0% in April of 2025.
Investors purchased 16.0% of homes in April of 2026, decreased from 18.0% in March of 2026, but increased from 15.0% in April of 2025.
Cash buyers purchased 25.0% of all sales in April of 2026, down from 27.0% in March of 2026, but same as from 25.0% in April of 2025.
