A few years back, our young son had the opportunity to fly in a small airplane. As he sat next to the pilot, he looked in wonder at the instrument board and all of the tools the pilot used to fly the plane. He was very quiet as he took all of this in.
My husband was with him and snapped some pictures. One picture shows him simply looking up. In this picture, he appears to exhibit such joy and wonder. You can just see the wheels turning from this photo.
After landing, we asked him what the best thing was about the experience. His answer was brilliantly simple: “I got to see the world how God sees us.”
Chapter 9 of Romans takes us on a journey regarding our own personal sin. We are lost without Christ and are wretched without Him. But the Good News reminds us that God sees us as holy and righteous because of Christ. What we see in our own flesh is not what God sees. Thankfully, God has a vantage point that we do not.
However, we must stop for a moment and reflect on the fact that God sees us as beautiful images of Christ Jesus. Reflect on this truth today and give yourself grace! You are loved! You are whole in Christ. You matter.
