These NOTS Could Hurt the Sale Of Your Home
Could there be something you’re NOT doing hurt the sale of your home??
Focusing on the possibilities of a home is what I always recommend; however, we can’t avoid what many buyers will view as a negative.

Buying a home is the largest investment most of us will make in our lives. Buyers look at all a property has to offer, however, they’ll also look at what it may be lacking.
What can you do?
While focusing on what your home offers, you’ll also need to address the NOTs or Distractions.
- NOT Updated
While some buyers welcome a home with room for updates, many are looking for a property that won’t require them to immediately open their checkbooks—or live through weeks of painting and hammering.
If your budget allows, consider replacing worn carpeting or flooring, or replacing old light fixtures or outdated appliances.

- NOT enough room.
What’s important to buyers is space…how much is there. This doesn’t mean grabbing a sledgehammer and knocking down walls.
Edit the extras in your closets, pantry and shelves.
- NOT my style.
While you can’t please everyone’s taste, it’s important to address things that are too taste-specific.
You want your buyers to love your family room, not think about how much they dislike the animal print painted on the wall.
Buyers have a hard time seeing past paint color and other taste-specific items, even when these are things that are easily changed.
- NOT move-in ready.
Move-in ready isn’t always about offering a home that is totally updated. Talk to your agent and learn what buyers in your market area are looking for.
Address repairs and deferred maintenance; have a pre-listing home inspection; give it a coat of fresh paint.

- NOT clean.
There is no reason to have this NOT! Bring in professional cleaners. Clean under, over, around, on top of, behind, and inside everything.
Bring in a “third-party” nose to ensure that your buyers will run the other way when they walk in.
Don’t let the NOTs in your home cost you!
