Taking Care of Business Even on A Holiday Weekend

By
Real Estate Agent with Dirt Road Real Estate SA676002000

Like other licensed professionals, who are self-employed, professional real estate agents are taking care of business, working overtime even on a holiday weekend. Phone calls to texts to emails are answered. Paperwork is processed. Customer relationship management systems are updated. The list goes on and on.

Yes, real estate agents do attempt to make time for family and friends. However, clients feel their residential listing, their vacant land property under contract or their desire to buy real property takes precedence.

Additionally, for some, the weekends are a time to catch up on paperwork and other related real estate transaction activities.  Believe it or not I have had some buyers make offers on holiday weekends because this is a time for them to visit residential properties to vacant land parcels or just drive around getting a “feel” for the area.

P.S. Being a professional real estate agent is a full time self-employed small business owner and working over time happens though without time and a half or double time.

P.S. Please consider checking out my Facebook business page, The Grit and Gratitude Agent that will focus on the Dirt Roads in Mohave County as well local real estate, lots of dirt or vacant land parcels as some of the local attractions.

Great post!  I book my family time on the calendar so I can tell clients I'm aready booked the days I want to spend time with family.  I've learned they more patient if they don't know who I'm with.

I too use the same verbiage, commitments.  Currently I have several must sell properties and I am making some allowances. May you enjoy an honorable Memorial Day. Thank you.

Hi Leanne... as the years have gone by, I've limited my work related activities on holiday weekends. And because most of my clients are long-standing clients they know how much I work and are the first to tell me to take time off. Recently a long-standing client emailed me on a Sunday and I responded to her and her first comments was "why are you working on a Sunday; take a day off!"

Having clients who appreciate us is always a blessing. I do not show properties on Sundays or holidays. I will address some paperwork with time permitting.

Leanne Smith  if one is genuinely working the business it seems to be more like 30 hours a day and 8 days a week.

Your post made me chuckle because it does some like 8 days a week and 30 hours a day.  I get up early most mornings and by 6am working on emails to allow time from 8am to attend to incoming calls, tours and other activities. Thank you for adding to this dialogue.

Leanne, when I had personal time planned, I always said, my time was booked.   Our clients don't need to know ALL the details, even on Holiday weekends.

No disagreement with your contribution.  I also do not share details with clients for the most part. I have found the Saturday and Sunday early mornings to be a great time to catch up on paper work.

Coming from a family that served in WWII along with my husband who served in Vietnam and our son who served in the Navy, we are always aware of the ultimate sacrifice made by our military men and women.

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

That hit home with a grin, Leanne Smith because it’s so true. Your take on the holiday hustle feels spot on, and it’s a good reminder that this work doesn’t exactly come with an off switch. Thanks for laying it out with such clarity and heart.

Yes there is no on and off switch. Good morning and thank you Lew.

On holidays and weekends, a lot of people don't work, so that is when they tend to call upon their real estate agent most often.

So true and even if we don't have calls, weekends and sometimes holidays are a quiet time to catch up on all the behind the curtain activities.

Yes, Leanne. I was writing an offer over this past weekend. Sometimes you've just got to get things done.
