Good morning, Kathy... I wish I could remember that far back! Best advice I can offer to any young person is to not worry about what other people think... just do what you know is right for you. Always be brave enough to do it "your way."

Hone and listen to your inner voice. It's God's direct channel to you. AND Never put your tie on before you brush your teeth. (I know from experience...lol)

I would advise high school graduates to be very careful and thoughtful when planning their higher education and careers.

Good morning Kathy. Does he want to go to college? If so, does he know what he wants to study? Maybe computers and launching  businesses aligned with developing technology? Does he want to expand his car detailing and maybe learn body work or engine repair? Does he see himself building a business with potential for further expansion with multiple locations? If he can answer these questions, support him in doing what he wants. That will be quite the conversation where you need to understand before you seek to be understood. Sounds like he may have many answers. Enjoy your day.

Be yourself. Don't do something just because you think it's what  your parents, siblings, spiritual advisor, grandparents, etc think. Do what YOU feel is right for you.

Thanks for the mention. My advice would be to read my book! Of course, it wasn't written then, but it's available to current graduates. 😊

My advice to graduates is to listen to your parents and other well wishers more than your friends!!! You will be thrive in your life

Hmm, that is a tough one for me since I don't think I would tell myself to do anything differently.  Maybe I would say to chase your dreams rather than what you feel is more practical, but I don't know if that would be sound advice or not, since I don't know how it would actually turn out, haha.  Luke seems incredibly driven, so I know that he will have a lot of success in life and be able to do anything that he wants to do!!!

Kathy, I would say do not compare your timeline to everyone else’s!

My advice to focus on what you can control.  Human beings have a tendency to focus on what they cannot control and so much energy and emotions are wasted.  Ask yourself the following questions:

Is this situation important to me? If no, let it go, if yes next question.

Why is this situation important to me?

Is there another way to achieve my goal by focusing on what I can control?

How much time, money, energy and emotions will it cost me to focus on this situation?

What a meaningful gift for your grandnephew. One piece of advice I’d give my younger self is to not be so afraid of failure because some of the best opportunities and lessons in life come from taking chances and learning along the way.

Kathy I guess what I would recommend from my past experiences is to listen to others, but to always do your own research before making life decisions.

I would tell him he is him for a reason, to work on self discovery and find that reason. Discover the problems people have and solve them. No does not necessarily mean no, it means they have unresolved questions, so dig deeper. Listen more than you speak, ask more questions rather than lecturing. Don't stop asking why? Don't listen to others who say we have always done it that way.

Kathy, Don't know that I received any advice graduating from school.   I would have to say, choose a career or a job that makes you happy.   Not something you will spend 8 hours a day hating.

I love what you are doing for your grandnephew, it will mean the world to him, If he stays true to himself, follows his instincts and never stop learning he will be a success!

First thing that came to mind was what I put in the comment to Nina...not to spend so much time worrying about what others think of you.

Be kind to others...you never know what hardship or issues at home that they are carrying.

Don't be too hard on yourself, accept any failure as a learning experience and use it to your advantage.

I love this idea, Kathy. I would share with him to live his life fully each and every day. Take risks in business, travel - soak in life every moment that you can. Take time for yourself without feeling guilty. Laugh a lot. Be silly when you can. Love even when you get hurt.
