Another Nail Biting Adventure

Yesterday my family and I went to our "Once in a great while" movie adventure. The movie was playing at our "Second Run" theater, The Oak Park Movie Theater.

I'd like to tell you a wonderful story about this theater but I'll save it for another post.

This movie was NOT a second run but a very small production of local interest. That being said, it is getting GREAT reviews nationally.

The movie is the story of Medora. The wife of a brilliant French Investor who had a vision to build a town in Western North Dakota for a meat packaging plant. Medora's father was very wealthy and invested in his son in laws ideas. Her husband was of both French and Spanish nobility and also had great political ambitions.

Click on the photo for a preview.

The movie was filmed in the North Dakota badlands by an little known / unknown production company and no known actors/actresses'. They did a brilliant job!

The movie has love and action and the unbelievable scenery of North Dakota's Bad Lands.

The only spoiler alert I'll give you is that it's a sad movie. A truly sad portrait of the human state even back then in the 1800's.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Sounds very interesting Bob and about the Dakota badlands. A nail biter AND sad? I need an upper, you have any of those movies to recommend? One that I liked on the upper side is "Facing the Giants". Try it, you'll like it.

Good morning Bob. When you see a movie that speaks to the truth of the times, as opposed to ur accepted views today, you can be deeply moved. Sounds like this movie did that to you. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin I really appreciated that the writer and the director stuck to historical fact. There were scenes that they could have given into shocking gore as well as gratuities sex but they stayed true to their mission of portraying what they believed to be true.

What a ride this one sounds like, Bob "RealMan" Timm. I love how you pulled me right into the story of that little theater and this film with such heart, grit, and those sweeping North Dakota views. Thanks for sharing this slice of history and humanity with us, it hit in a way that lingers :)
