I always enjoy participating in the monthly #ActiveRainChallenge. I am grateful that Debe Maxwell, CRS and Lew Corcoran are hosting this month's challenge. Even though life in the Rain has changed over the years, there is still a lot of good that comes from it being in existence.

For me, life in the Rain is all about networking. I love getting to know others on a personal level and learning about how they do things in their area for the benefit of their clients. In thinking about what I can do to make life in the Rain better, the only thing that I can come up with for myself is to be more supportive of those who aren't at all supportive of me, haha. I feel that I already do this to a certain extent, but tend to lose interest quickly in people who take, take, take, but don't give anything. As I relate this to charity, I am all about giving anyone and everyone a hand up if I am able to do so, but I get tired very quickly of people who prove themselves to only be after a handout time and time again. I love that there has been a strong push from many in the Rain to get newbies involved. It would be amazing if more newbies became active because so many long-time Rainers have left over the years or don't participate as much as they once did. Also, it seems that many who are active are retired, which is a good thing, but more so for friendships to develop than for real estate business to be exchanged and enhanced through others. I think that these challenges do a great job of encouraging people to blog about themselves, their thoughts, or life in their area, as it allows me a chance to get to know more about them, what they are about, and where they live. I love referring prospective clients to the people that I have interacted with in the Rain over the years and gotten to know well. I am reluctant to refer anyone to someone that I know nothing about, and definitely won't refer anyone to someone who seems to be all about themselves because it tells me that they might not always have their clients' best interests in mind. I make a point of reaching out to newbies, encouraging them, and offering to help them in any way that I can, and I will continue to do so. My hope is that interactions will occur, they will get active, and make some great relationships in the Rain that will lead to more business for them, as well as some possible strong friendships!
