Blogging 101 for AR Newbies (And Overall Refresher)
This month's challenge confirms that ActiveRain is more than just pictures and posts, it's a people site that happens to be real estate related. One of the best ways to encourage memberships is writing content that grabs the reader by sparking conversations, through respectful debate, to teach and become the student.
Though there are no secrets to blogging success. Here are 5 things that may help:

Tell a hilarious story. I almost put a stray, orange tabby cat back into the house that was shown because he got out. Thankfully, at the last moment, I noticed the owner's orange tabby cat was sitting on the arm of the couch after opening the door. Whew‼️

Relate how it felt after a home buyer's husband said he didn't want to 'marry you' after asking for a signed Buyer Broker Agreement and then resisting the strongest of urges to leave them standing on the sidewalk and driving away. Free at last! 🏎

Sprinkle with your personality to gain interest. Instead of a boring, straightforward market report or staging tips, add some flavor like, "Three Things I Wish I'd Known Before My First Listing." Punch it up, add a bit of humor or sparkle. ✨

Ask questions that can be answered in the member comment section that follows every post. For instance, "What is something you do to celebrate a closing?" or "Has there been a time when you and client shared happy tears together?" Most can relate. 😭

It takes time to gain a following, avoid blowing up over it, remain present. Comment on other member posts and it tends to come back in reciprocation, most of the time. Be genuine, use helpful content and levity. People recognize sincerity a mile away. 🙌
Mortgage lenders, title reps, home inspectors, photographers, stagers, landscapers, contractors, and moving companies are more than just vendors, they’re valuable partners who work to make every transaction smoother. Add them to the mix.
Let’s keep ActiveRain strong by lifting each other up, one fun, whimsy or informative blog at a time. Who’s ready to write their next feature-worthy post now?
This is an entry to June's Challenge. Many thanks to Patricia Feager (for the idea), Lew Corcoran and Debe Maxwell, CRS for hosting this month's bevy of posts!
