Moved Half into my Apartment

By
Industry Observer DRE# ER40011786

It was "sort of" moving day, or at least half.   But it was the hardest of all I have to move.   I had a really big bag that weighed 53# when leaving Denver.   It was not expanded, and had only clothes in it.   My winter and summer clothes, along with sweaters.   The other suitcase I moved today was my shoes.   Don't laugh, but put my spice bottles in the shoes, and had some winter gloves, scarf and hats, just in case.  It was expanded but wasn't a very large suitcase.

Also had my carry-on for the kitty stuff, along with some food and supplies from the kitchen.

Since I still don't have a car, called UBER to take my stuff over to my apartment (15 min away).   Got all of it unpacked, and went to the department store about 15 minutes away.  I walked (mostly uphill) but called UBER to take me back to my apartment.   The owners of this apartment bought just about everything new.  Unpacked the microwave, water kettle, pots and pans and wine glasses.

Was SO tired I stopped at the Cadillac Bar and had happy hour, and had a delightful conversation with some Brits from Bristol here on Holiday.  Their fav place has been Australia and New Zealand.

Friday, I will move my last two suitcases over plus the kitties and a bit more of the kitchen and will clean.   Even though I pay for a cleaning fee, may only clean mostly where the catbox has been.  They shouldn't have to clean up after kitty litter.

Will be so nice not to live out of a suitcase!   It has been about 7 weeks now.  Pretty done with it!

Good afternoon Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner, I am not sure what time it is at your place, but here in Florida is 2:45pm, nice sunny and a good freeze. You know when you said, don't laugh, well I had to any ways. Your spices inside the shoes was a great idea, I guess no one checked your shoes, lol You should have called the UBER for the uphill and walked down, LOL Nice to hear that you are almost all in your apartment:)

Katina Hargrove 352-551-0308 I did check to be sure spices were allowed on the plane, and they were.  Good place to stash them, didn't take up much space.   I had SO MUCH STUFF after I was in Continente, HAD to have an UBER back to carry all of it.   147 euros later....

HI Joan... been there, done that, living in temporary quarters for weeks on end. In Abu Dhabi we did that for at least three months. It's certainly not fun. And the older we get the less fun it is.

Nina Hollander, Broker I would HATE living like this for 3 months!   6 weeks is enough.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner We lived that way three months in Paris and in Abu Dhabi. Two adults and two cats... we got through it but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Hello Joan, I love that even after a tiring day you found time for a great conversation with travelers from Bristol. Sometimes those unexpected moments are the best part of a move.

Hi Joan- there must be a Cadillac Bar in every major city in the world!!!  I'm glad you're finally getting settled. Now you can make the apartment your Portugal home!  Do you have an Air fryer?  That would make cooking easier for you.

Get some rest for the rest of your move.

Kathy Streib I don't have an air fryer in the new place, but have a "hob", an oven and a microwave.    I donated mine in CO several months ago, as I never used it.  Plus, it took up a lot of space.   It was fun sitting on the couch in the living room, knowing that will be my home now.   Moving the rest over Friday morning, then I will be done.

Dorie, I wish it would have been a good night's sleep, woke at 4:50, after going to sleep after 11.  Probably a nap will be in order this afternoon.  LOL

Lynda's favorite place is New Zealand, mine is Tuscany. I think as long as I can hear waves roll in every so often I am good.
