Today was pretty busy with changing over the water and electric into my name. My agent picked me up, and you have to go to the offices with the appropriate information. I also went to the pharmacy and got some prescriptions refilled.
SO, I didn't take anything out for dinner, thinking I would be back to the apartment a bit later in the day. I wanted to go to this restaurant pretty close to order wings and either a margarita or a dacquiri. Well, wasn't happening, didn't see they were closed on Monday!
SO, there is a pastelaria just out the garage and across the street. Didn't know they didn't serve food after 2:30. Hopefully, will get the hang of this! SO, decided it was 5 pm, so time for a glass of wine. BUT the lady behind the counter didn't speak much English, and there was a lady sitting at a table nearby that spoke English very well, and stepped up to assist. At that point, guess it was just a glass of wine.
She had an accent that sounded familiar, so I asked where she was from. She was born in Portugal, but moved to Toronto. THAT'S where that accent was from! She had already had a cup of coffee, so we just sat and talked. She said she WANTED to be my first Portuguese friend! Her name is Julia and owns a condo here in Quarteira, and a home back in Toronto.
She will return to Canada in September for her daughter's birthday, and will return to Portugal in April. She visits the pastelaria nearly every day, so will be sure to meet her as much as I can, and she said we should check out some restaurants in the area. THAT will be fun.
WOO HOO, my first friend!
