The Basement That Forgot It Was A Basement

That is a pretty cool basement. My own apartment is a ground floor and finished cellar duplex- and I bought it with the expectation of using the lower for as an entertainment space. I might still use it that way one day- but for now it's been storage for a friend. 

We actually have a distinction between a basement and a cellar here- though I know most agents aren't aware. A basement is at least 50% above grade (grade is sidewalk level here) while a cellar is at least 50% below grade.  Amazingly enough my cellar space- which is entirely below grade gets direct sunlight- and is brighter than a lot of apartments in town. The buildings across the street are all 5 stories and for ventilation purposes - my cellar has a below ground walkout outdoor space- with a sliding glass door that faces south- so I get direct sun which lights up the room on a sunny day despite being underground. 

Margaret, this basement sounds like a true bonus living space, not just extra square footage. The entertainment areas, studio, walkout access, and flexibility make it easy to imagine many different ways a buyer could enjoy this home.

Good morning Margaret. When a basement reaches this level it no longer qualifies as a "man cave" or women's retreat" its has graduated to "Entertainment Mecca Extratordinaire" Simply a dream come true with one with deep pockets. A one of a kind for sure. Enjoy your day.

That's quite the basement/lower level! 

My cousin lived in your area for a while, and I remember staying at his home.  The thing I remember most about it was the basement.  He had a bar, a pool table, and other fun stuff, which is why my brother and I spent most of our time down there, haha.

Margaret here in PHX area there are very, very few basements. And if there is one it's a walk out basement with lots of windows and light and access to backyard.

Hi Margaret- Wowza!  I've lived in just one home with a walk-out basement and it is what sold the house. It had a pool table, a 12-foot-long bar with barstools on each side, a full bed and bathroom, a sitting area, and another room that was Larry's second "I love me" room.  I told Larry we should live down here and rent out the house!
