I woke up yesterday and after my morning routine, walking the dog etc. I read email messages. There was an email from a person looking for help finding a home. I usually take these with a pinch of salt as I have found many are scammers trying to get into your computer.
However, this felt different, as he asked if we could talk and when would be convenient. So, I thought let me do a little research. he had left a phone number so I plugged it into Forewarn and it gave me his address and background.
The address was in the town where he said he lived and so I searched public records to find out a little more. Doing that I got his full name which I put into LinkedIn and worked out where he worked.
I then texted him and asked when would be a good time to talk. He responded that now was good. I asked for 10 minutes and then called him.
The call was warm, and he confirmed some of the information I had uncovered during the conversation. He also told me much more after I had gone over the Consumer Notice with him. A half hour we spent on the phone asking and answering questions of each other. It felt like we were building a relationship, like you do here on AR, getting to know each other by reading posts making comments etc.
My final question of him was how he had found me, as he had hinted that it was through the internet. His answer was simple - Gemini! He then expanded that he had searched using Gemini to find local agents and then whittled down to reaching out to me.
It felt gratifying that Gemini recognized me and recommended me to a consumer to use to find a home. We are not there yet, we still have to sign buyer agency documents, but these are all steps along the road to working with a client and building that relationship where the refer you and use you again later.
