Baseball, Real Estate... and Me!
I'm not the first person you'd call to explain baseball. In fact, I'm probably the only person talking baseball today who has to remind herself there are nine innings!
But I do know houses, and it turns out baseball has been giving us real estate advice all along.
Buying or selling a home is a lot like a baseball game.
1. You have to step up to the plate if you ever want to buy or sell.
2. Finding the perfect home on the first try? That's a home run!
3. Waiting too long to make an offer? You may have struck out looking while someone else was safe at home.
4. An appraisal comes in low? That's a curveball.
5. Settlement gets delayed because someone's paperwork isn't ready? Rain delay!
6. Your lender, title company, inspector, contractor, and movers? That's your bullpen warming up.
7. Selling one home and buying another on the same day? That's a double play.
8. Selling, buying, and moving all in one weekend? That's a triple play-and I definitely don't recommend it!
9. A transaction that should have closed last month? Extra innings.
10. Does the lender ask for one more document five minutes before closing? That's the bottom of the ninth.
11. An offer comes in just as you're about to reduce the price? That's a walk-off win!

The most important lesson? Keep your eye on the ball. Don't get distracted by the little bumps in the road. Almost every transaction has a few.
Batting .500 might get you into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In real estate, the only average I care about is getting every buyer and seller around the bases and safely making it home.

This was inspired by a comment made on a recent post by Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI
"Come to think of it, maybe baseball speak and realtor speak can be merged together."
I may not follow baseball, but I do know real estate... and I'd love to help you round the bases all the way home!
