GULPING FOOD REVEALS LIFE IMBALANCE

By

if you shovel food into your mouth & do as little chewing as possible, called woofing, then it is almost a given that you are doing the same thing in the many other areas of your life. You either know it & don't care, don't know it & are waiting for someone to take a stand for you, or have other more important things to do. That's my point

WHAT'S THE HURRY?

You can't be starving. There is no gun to your head. You are not in an eating contest & you are not trying to prove a point, so what's going on? Your mind is racing. Your thoughts are driving your life. You are over-reacting & reaching. Where's the peace?

NOT ABOUT FOOD

The establish and accepted way to eat is to set aside the time to do so. Then, the sight, smell & expectation come out which tend to be part of the meal experience. Next, the food is put before you either in a group setting, public place or in front of the TV. Smell it, take a moment to see the reward & pleasure, reach for your napkin

ATTITUDE SHIFT

Your whole perspective on life comes into view. Appreciation & opportunity with calm visits. The body is told to relax, be patient, you won't starve & food is coming as you reach for your spoon or fork. Your focus is clear, i.e. to enjoy the moment you are in & then the food, a sort of doubling of your pleasure. Now we are eating

THE OTHER RUSH CATEGORIES

Imagine you are on a permanent type of game show where you go through life only being allowed so much allotted time. This makes you anxious, tense, edgy & leaves out 95% of who you really are & not this manufactured state of unrest

WORTHY NOTE: I met an elderly couple, walking along at a snail's pace, step by step, both in a good & appreciative mood as they slowly strolled on their way to their car. I remarked: what's the hurry & they responded with wise, solid nodding

OTHER QUICK IN A HURRIES

1. You don't stretch enough especially before the main exercise

2. You have angst over where to park

3.  You cut all sorts of corners in the name of saving time

4. You develop a type of life blinder meaning no left or right but straight ahead

5. Your smile is gone as it is not on the quick, fast paced agenda

6. Your given 100% daily energy is out of balance forcing you to race & burn fuel

7. You live an emotional-thought based driven life called: think-feel-react

8. People are seen as stealing your time causing you to be abrupt with them

9. You interrupt people, cut them off, because it doesn't fit your time narrative

10. I know your car is dirty LOL

If you are doing some or any of the above, I guarantee that others are seeing you do it. That's who you are. That existence has a quantity feel to it lacking quality. A fast-moving train where no one can get on or off? Sounds like a Twilight Zone

FAMILY?

Your wife may not be getting intimacy needs met & if a husband, you feel sort of unappreciated. Your children don't get their nurturing, even your garden is overgrown with weeds leading the growth too I bet. Too busy says "I don't care" even if you do care. That mixed message causes confusion & robs life from you too

START WITH CHEWING FOOD

To bring you back to sipping life & not gulping it down, on your next meal, we are going to try something painful. I want you to take small bites of food, chew it down to pre-swallow mode, empty, & then pause 1/2 second. Next bite the same. It will drive you crazy but pass quick enough. Hey, you may eat less too. Also, this

CROSSES OVER

Into the many other areas of your life which will cause you to see, hear & feel, you will notice change for the good. Why? You are being a good steward & respecting the systems. Last word on eating habits. Find your own way of satisfying yourself

It is funny, if I have a sandwich I often eat it quickly, but Ice cream will take me forever to finish. I love to savor the taste.
