Celebrate Independence Day By Declaring Your Independence From Renting

By

THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND...

As America Celebrates 250 Years Of Freedom... Why Not Declare Your Independence From Renting...

... And Celebrate The Financial Freedom, Stability, And Pride That Come With Owning Your Own Home!

While June's National Homeownership Month may be behind us, the message is just as relevant this Independence Day weekend. As we celebrate America's independence, it's also a great time to ask yourself an important question:

Have you declared your own independence from renting?

Owning a home is about much more than having a place to live. It offers the opportunity to build equity with every mortgage payment instead of paying your landlord's mortgage. It provides stability, the freedom to personalize your living space, and the satisfaction of putting down roots in a place you can truly call your own.

The financial advantages are just as compelling. For 13 consecutive years, Americans have ranked real estate as the nation's best long-term investment, ahead of stocks, gold, savings accounts, and bonds. That's because homeownership has consistently proven to be one of the most dependable ways to build wealth over time, while also providing a place to live.

The difference can be significant. According to national housing data, the typical homeowner's net worth is 43 times greater than that of the typical renter. That's because homeowners gain wealth over time, while renters lose wealth. While everyone's financial journey is different, building equity over the years can become one of the cornerstones of long-term financial security.

If you've been waiting for the "perfect" time to stop renting, this Independence Day may be the perfect opportunity to start exploring your options. Whether you're ready to buy now or simply want to understand what's possible, taking that first step today could help you enjoy the financial and personal freedom that comes with owning a home for years to come. Reach out to Nina Hollander with Coldwell Banker Realty in Greater Charlotte to discuss your options.

Good morning Nina. When we first moved back to Chicago to be closer to the grandkids, we rented. Glad we did for a period of time. It was horrible to see my money going down the drain, so we finally said no more and so happy we did. A great call to action for sure. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin thanks, Wayne... there are legitimate times in life when renting is a better option. Of course, my CTA was to those people who rent long term and give no thought to the advantages of owning.

Carol Williams hi Carol... considering how I was moving around the country in my 20's, buying was not in the cards for me... as I never knew how long I might be in a place.

Nina Hollander, Broker Great tie-in for the holiday, Nina! It really is the perfect time for renters to reflect on whether they are ready to transition to ownership. Building equity is a message that never goes out of style, and you've presented the benefits so clearly here.

I get that renting makes sense on a short-term basis from time to time, but over the long-term it is much better to build up one's own equity than someone else's, haha.

Nina Hollander, Broker

Brian England that was my point, exactly, Brian! I think if people understood better how their wealth grows through ownership more people would aspire to do it.

I like the way this ties Independence Day to the idea of homeownership. It's a good reminder that buying a home is about more than just having a place to live, it's about building stability and investing in your future.

So true, I bought my first, brand new built home for around $40 in the mid 1980's. We sold this home for $139,000 about 20 years later. Our current home was bought for cash at $98K and current value in 6 years has jumped to over $400K.

Leanne Smith that's an amazing appreciation for your home. I don't believe I ever lived anywhere where there were homes at the prices you paid... nonetheless, I've done very well over the years with my homes and have not complaints.
