It's Deafening!

Carol and I are loud sneezers. We point at each other when asked "Who sneezes the loudest?". That being said I am pretty sure our neighbors aren't thinking of moving because it (our sneezing).

Before plunking down your hard earned cash on a home you may want to determine if you can stand the noise in the neighborhood. 🙄

All kinds of things make loud noises. I would think twice about purchasing a home near rail road tracks again.

I live three blocks from a RR Crossing and most of the Engineers are total jerks about blasting the horn and laying on it even when they are well past the crossing. If you are outside you can forget about visiting with anyone when they are laying on the horn. If you are inside and the doors or windows are open you can forget about holding a conversation. If you are trying to take a nap you can forget about that as well.

I've never lived in line with an airport landing strip but I know that if that airport is in a busy city it will bring your property values down.

A lot of things make noise, factories, race tracks, bars, and much more. You want to know the volume and frequency of the ruckus before purchasing a home as opposed to regretting your decision later.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

When I sneeze, it is often in a burst with a few others. The closest to a noisy area  is our current home, and only when the leaves  are down that noise can come off the roadway. The neighbors that back up to that roadway are much worse.

I am familiar with blower noise Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 as my neighbor uses his for leaves AND snow.

Visiting an area someone is thinking of moving to should happen at various times of day.

Agreed Kat Palmiotti . I admit however that I didn't practice it. 🙄

Good morning, Bob... this is something I recommend to clients if they are looking at homes near a railroad or airport. Some care, some don't. We also have homes that "border" high schools... and I warn people about the Friday Night lights, the noise of the games, the school bus traffic, etc. I don't know about Minot, but we have lots of areas backing up to our interstates... again, I tell people to check out noise before deciding on a home.

Good morning Bob. We live in neighborhood about a mile and a half from the RR tracks. And like the engineers in your area, some goof ball hits it most every morning at 4:00am. Funny, since we had been told that our downtown is a 'no horn" zone. I can't imagine the sound of that horn for the residents who have home within 100 feet of the track. Enjoy your day fellow loud sneezer.

A big part of our problem is that the two sets of tracks near us is actually part of a switching yard. It's very busy Wayne Martin . Have a wonderful 4th.

So true, Bob! It’s such an important piece of advice to give buyers—visiting a neighborhood at different times of the day really reveals the 'real' environment. Whether it's train tracks, flight paths, or just the local traffic patterns, knowing what you're buying into is key. Great reminder, and love the comic as always!

Thank you Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 . I learned your point about visiting at different times of day from another's post about living next to a party house.

The sneezing competition sounds hilarious! 🤣 But seriously, neighborhood noise is something buyers should definitely pay attention to before making a big investment. A home's location includes what you hear every day, not just what you see. 🏡👂

Well said Lise Howe . As far as our sneezing I may have her beat by one decibel BUT I'm a one and done and she is three or four and everyone of them shakes the room. 😜

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, I think I am also a fairly loud sneezer. Oh well...deal with it...lol

Are you "one and done" as I am Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty or up to four as my wife is?

Depends on why I am sneezing. If it is allergies, I can do four, if it is a simple sneeze, ONE AND DONE.

That's funny! My husband is a loud sneezer, and it still catches me off guard. And yes, noises near a home are concerning.
