Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® CRS,ABR,PSA,RCS-D, CFSP a fellow real estate agent, is highlighting others, not just me. Many other members are also being interviewed and featured!
Real estate is often measured by numbers. How many homes did you sell? How many listings? How many years in business? But maybe those aren't the best measurements. Maybe the better question is...Who have you highlighted? Who still remembers you years later? Who trusts you enough to pick up the phone when life changes?
One of the nicest parts of my career has been the friendships that have grown from it. Through my radio show, my blogs, and through ActiveRain, I've met people I'll probably never live next door to, yet somehow, we stay connected. We celebrate each other's successes, encourage each other through challenges, and share ideas that make us all a little better. That article wasn't really about me. It was about kindness. It was about lighting a candle.

It was about taking a few minutes to recognize someone else. And it reminded me how powerful encouragement can be. So today I'd like to turn that around and ask you a question. When was the last time you did that for someone? Maybe it was A teacher. An agent. A co-worker. A family member. Or maybe the person who quietly helped you through one of life's biggest transitions. A few sincere words can stay with someone for a very long time.
So, thank you, Thomas, the person who wrote that article. You have made this career richer for so many others! If someone has made a difference in your life, don't wait until it's too late to tell them.
Until next week, this is Margaret Rome reminding you that real estate is about houses...but life is about people.
