Friday Fun…Nope, You Can’t Go Back!

Kathy, funny reactions!   I usually tell people not to drive by after they sell.  The new owners rarely keep it up like you did!  Before I left the US I had a home in Broomfield (45 min from where I lived, but was up there), so drove by my very first home.   Almost didn't recognize it, but didn't look bad.

Good morning, Kathy... I regularly drive by my first two homes in Charlotte... happy to report there have been no negative shocks!

So true. A former house may hold wonderful memories, but time, changes, and the people who shared it are what made it feel like home.

Yes, I drove by my child hood home years ago and it had been repainted and they changed landscaping, removing my mom's rose gardens and trellis. I just looked on google maps and they have added a shed and a paved pull in area on top. Nothing earth shattering!

Good morning Kathy. We sold a home in 1990 that still looks the same as when we lived there. Our buyers still reside there and it looks different with the maturity of the landscaping. That said we both agree that we could not live there presently. Our tastes have changed but the memories are clear and enjoyable. The times they are a changing.

I recall after getting licensed that I was showing the house we grew up in and the memories were many especially as the closet with the height marked was untouched inside and all was there

The last home Max and I owned has gone to He!!. It is so sad. The people obviously have no pride of ownership. I shudder to think what the inside might look like. Occasionally, when in the area, I drive by our old childhood home in Portland... or I should say what used to be our home. It has been torn down, and the lot is still vacant. The area around it has been developed with big apartment buildings. I suspect that's what will go on that big lot too.

I'm sure it seemed funny to drive by your two past homes and see how they looked! I've not done that as we lived in other states and I'm not going back there! I should check them out on google maps....hadn't thought of that!

I remember clients of mine who sold their home and moved to a different place.  Every week after it sold, they would drive by and see what the new owners were doing with it.  Of course, they didn't like what the new owners were doing with it, haha.

I have moved quite a lot (22 times if I have counted correctly). One home stood out the most. It was a Tudor in Scarsdale, NY (Westchester County just north of the city). No interest in living there today.

Kathy, When our kids were little, we took them to see the apartment that Larry grew up in. When we got there, they said "how did you live there with all the windows broken and missing? Haha!

Kathy I have only owned one other home than the one I have presently live in for the last 45 years.  I have not gone back to see the previous house since we sold it because it is in another state, but I would love to do that someday.

I do like to drive past the homes we've lived in. Love all of the memories in each one of them.

I just drove by the house I lived in.  I would buy it in a minute and move back!
