The Importance of Reminding People You’re a Real Estate Agent

By

Summer is one of the most powerful networking seasons in real estate.

BBQs, bridal showers, graduations, weddings, and backyard gatherings bring people together, and every one of those events is an opportunity to naturally remind others what you do for a living. You don’t need a sales pitch; you just need presence, consistency, and conversation.

When your social media is active, your blogs are current, and your professional life is visible, people notice. They may not “like” every post, but they’re watching. Today at a bridal shower, I walked in as a guest and walked out with a listing appointment - all because people have been following my activity online and seeing how busy and committed I am.

This is exactly why staying visible matters. Social media and blogging aren’t just marketing tools; they’re silent reminders that keep you top‑of‑mind. When people already know you’re active, knowledgeable, and engaged, they approach you.

So, keep showing up. Keep posting. Keep blogging. Your next client might be standing right next to you at the cookout.

Kelly McGovern my kids use to make fun of me, because I made sure that EVERYONE, I knew and talked to new I originated mortgage loans.  It was an automatic for me, and within a couple of minutes of a conversation I would bring it up.  One of the worse things for me was to have someone I know say they went to someone else for a mortgage because they did not know what I did.

Kelly McGovern excellent advice, Kelly. Of course, at this point in my life trying to retire, I'm doing as much as I can to stay less visible.

Staying visible matters. Consistent blogging, social media, and everyday conversations remind people of your experience, often leading to opportunities when you least expect them.

Good morning, Kelly.
Staying visible is important for active agents. I've been retired for 15 years, and I still get questions about the real estate market.

You are right, and it's kind of odd that we continually have to remind everyone, haha.  When I am at gatherings, it seems that someone always asks if I am still in real estate.  Perhaps people assume that others move on from this career quickly since it is such a tough career, haha.

Opportunities for sustainable property investments

Real estate is built on relationships, consistency really does create unexpected doors. Many opportunities come from simple conversations and the trust you build over time. Staying visible, sharing your journey, and genuinely connecting with people keeps you in their minds when the right opportunity comes up.
