It's 100 degrees outside, So why am I freezing?

I love the heat... as long as I can leave it for some air conditioning.

Our home is cooled by two small window air conditioners. During the last two days  the mercury has surpassed 100 degrees they have struggled to keep up. That being said, one of the 3 of us has felt as if they were freezing. Before I ramble off on a couple of tangents let me say my point for the post is:

Unity

When two or more people get together finding the best room temperature is always going to be debatable. Thank goodness there are always solutions at hand. When I am too hot I have a "Neck Cube" and a Neck Fan. When Carol is to cold she will put on a light sweater.

Certain circumstances bring about special challenges such as yesterday we went to worship and our church is not airconditioned. It was 80 degrees in the church but with the high ceiling, doors open. and good ceiling fans it was very tolerable. Some elected to stay cool the old fashion way with hand held fans and still others had USB fans.

The point is there are always solutions... they don't need to cost $10,000. especially in a climate that temps above 80 degrees are fairly rare. If all else fails go to the Walmart frozen food section. Carol brings a jacket when she shops there.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning, Bob... I always wear a sweater or light jacket when shopping even if it's 90 degrees outside. Our stores, especially grocery stores, are highly air conditioned.

It's rare AC bothers me Nina Hollander, Broker but there are some restaurants that make me wish I was covered with winter wear. ⛄

Hi Bob,
I always keep a sweater in my car. Many restaurants are just too cold to be comfortable. I suppose they have the temperature set to be comfortable for the workers who are constantly moving around.

BINGO on the restaurants Carol Williams . I figure the cook must have control over the AC.

I'm glad we aren't in the part of MT where it was 115º two days ago! That would have been terrible. As for staying cool and warm, I don't know of any two people who like it exactly the same!

The only time I can handle that kind of heat is when I am running to or from the car Kat Palmiotti (make that walking, I don't do running anymore). 😉

I think you have found a solution to your high-temperature problem.  In SC, we have more than one or two days of 100* weather, so we have to find more solutions to our long, hot summers.

Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518 I have, and am considering, installing our 3rd AC unit as the super hot season is just beginning for us.

Split systems without ducts can cool more than 1 room and are very energy-efficient.

Good morning Bob. My son lives in a downtown hirise where the building provides heat and air-conditioning. He lives like an Eskimo! And, the hallways are just as cold or colder. When he brings his family to visit he lowers our thermostat and my electric bill soars. We like it a bot more comfortable for normal human beings. By the way, my wife wears a jacket in Walmart. Tell Carol, she is not alone. Enjoy your day.

I have friends like your son Wayne Martin . Summer or winter their homes are at 65 degrees. My best friend keeps his home at 78 here  and I suspect his AZ home is the same. In his case it's a matter of pinching pennies although like Scrooge McDuck he would never run out of money.

Bob "RealMan" Timm - I have a simple rule, my wife controls the thermostat. Happy wife, happy life! I'm too old to pinch pennies over HVAC.

I love the heat as well, but I don't enjoy sweating profusely, haha.  It's good to have AC when it is hot outside!

Fun fact...the highest temp in the History of Melbourne, FL is 100 degrees. It has only happened twice in 150 years.

WOW! When I think of FL I'd think the highest ever would be 120 degrees in any town Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty .

Hi Bob- Everything in Houston is air-conditioned!!!   It has to be!  That said, even when it's 100 degrees outside, I still take something to throw over my shoulders when we go out to eat. It's cold inside.

Kathy Streib I've often thought that the thermostat for a restaurant should be controlled by the Host/Hostess and not the kitchen. Better yet would be two separate cooling systems.
