Shaking my head...

How NOT to follow up.

Over the past week or so I've received 3 unsolicited emails from someone who wants to make changes to my website. Yes, it needs help, and I'm working on it.

But... The first two told me I need help and offered to send me an outline or something...

I wasn't interested, so I deleted those emails.

Today I got this one:

Hello,

I am still waiting for your reply

Thanks,

No name, but she did include copies of her previous emails.

I'd write back and tell her that scolding people you want to turn into customers is not a smart plan, but ... nah. She'll either figure it out or not.

I'll just shake my head and hit delete.

I have a website for my podcast (only for my podcast). It's a nice to have site- but not a need to have site since the podcast platforms offer sufficient support. The sheer number of unsolicited emails to improve my website I receive are insane. It's literally just shy of 100% of the emails I receive for that email address.

Adam Feinberg I guess we can't complain - it's their time they're wasting!

I had to laugh at "I'm still waiting for your reply." That's probably one of the quickest ways to make someone hit delete. Building relationships works much better than guilt.

I get these emails along with the "I'm still waiting" emails. Sending that second or third email does NOT make me want to respond!

Kat Palmiotti Are you ever tempted to write them back and tell them so? Or to tell them to get lost?

Marte Cliff - yes I have been tempted but then figured why spend the time doing so? I highly doubt it would matter.

Yep, I feel the same way about those obsolete messages. Delete, delete, delete.

Dr. Paula McDonald The only thing that's really annoying is that sometimes my email system sends them to the junk folder, so I have to wade through them. I've found real mail in the junk too many times to just delete the whole thing every day.

Hi Marte. We all experience this. What "they" need to do is "CHANGE" their marketing philosophy. Jeff

Good morning, Marte... I get those all the time, along with the ones that promise me it's their last attempt to reach me (ha!). I just mark as junk and delete.

Totally agree Marte Cliff I get 2-3 per morning, I delete & spam block all of them.
I assume most are scams or at the very least poorly written introductions and follow ups that do not reflect well on the sender who's supposed to be an expert 😏😂
