Do you know the Name - Willis Carrier? His invention is popular in the Summer!

I did not, but recently I read he was the gentleman who invented modern air conditioning!

With many states sweltering in the heat, some are VERY thankful for the modern convenience of being cool.

Willis Haviland Carrier was an American engineer, best known for inventing modern air conditioning with the first electric air-conditioning unit in 1902.  In 1915, he founded Carrier Corporation, a company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

I know my A/C goes on if the temps are above 78, or the humidity is above 70%.

THANK YOU Willis Carrier!

Good morning again, Joan. I do know the Carrier name. In fact, I've owned Carrier air conditioning units several times.

Yes, I did know of the Carrier name - We don't need the air conditioning too often here (maybe 5-10 days a year at the most) but when we do, we're thankful to have it! Whoo hoo to Willis Carrier!

Good morning Joan. Did recognize the name but no recollection as to how I acquired the knowledge. It is already above 78 here as of this writing so my AC is working well. Enjoy your day and stay cool.

My mother said when she was about 5 years old they would go to a movie, and it was ice cooled (they had HUGE ice cubes and fans blowing the cold through the theater. LOL

Wayne Martin it was over 80 before I turned mine on today.  There was a good breeze coming in, so that was good.

In Southern Europe but also even i the North few homes have A/C. The older homes were built in a way that they did not need it, thick walls, blinds to cover the windows when it was bright and hot, keeping the inside dark and cool. With the changes in climate I think more European homes will obtain A/C in one way or another with split systems most likely.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 I know many of the apartments in my building and in the one I can see, there is no A/C, as their windows are open all the time.   I cannot imagine.  I required A/C in any apartment I was going to rent!
