Motivational Monday…Giving With No Expectations
When Larry and I moved to FL, we met the most amazing family. They would become our Florida Family. The patriarch, Tom, was one of a kind. He was funny, smart, loved his family, and was generous.
Tom gave without expecting anything in return. It didn’t matter if you were his family member, friend, neighbor, landscaper, or someone he didn’t even know.
You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you. John Bunyan

It would take me years to list all of his kind deeds, but one stands out. The manager’s wife at the beach club opened a small gift shop on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. Shortly after it opened, his wife and I were inside shopping. And wouldn’t you know it, Tom was outside telling passersby to come in and see the new store!
He “found” miscellaneous yard projects around his home and office building to help keep the man who did his yardwork busy.
What I learned was that doing something for someone simply because you can—because it's the right thing to do, regardless of whether they can ever repay your kindness—becomes a gift to you as well. In many ways, the satisfaction of giving without expecting anything in return is one of life's greatest rewards.
The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. Samuel Johnson
This week, what good deeds and kindness will you share with others just because you can?
