Some people should not be allowed to use power tools... some shouldn't even be allowed near any tool at all.
I loved the show Home Improvement and Tim Allen. Who would think that such a funny man (Tim Allen) would be fired from a network strictly because of his conservative political views when there are so many foul mouthed comedians and show hosts out there that network executives seem to love and adore?
I love tools! My grandpa Timm was a craftsman. He would whoop up on my dad if dad would touch his tools. Thus my dad hardly knew the proper use of a hammer or screwdriver.
Having purchased my 1st home at 18 and earning minimum wage I had to learn how to use tools quickly. Back then, 50+ years ago, neither YouTube or even the internet were around to help. My education was books and hands on experience.
My advice to new home owners on a tight budget is to pick up tools at thrift stores and rummage sales. Don't be afraid of cheap tools, how often are you going to use that tool anyway? If a job calls for a high quality or expensive tool RENT IT! You may never need that tool again.
My last word on tools: Don't lend them out. Over the years I have lost no less that $2,000. in tools not counting the ones that were returned to me broken.
BTW if you see my pole saw (for trimming trees) please ask the guy holding it to return it to me. 😉
