I know many of my fellow Active Rain colleagues have experienced recent moves. I am currently involved in a personal home move as well as a move to a new city. Whew! Moving certainly reminds us of what our clients experience. It reminds us of what being on the other side is like.
As I wrapped dishes in packing paper, searched for boxes that had mysteriously disappeared, and wondered why I ever kept so many "important" things, I was reminded of something I think every real estate professional should experience from time to time. Our clients aren't just moving houses. They're moving their lives.
That old chair isn't just furniture. It's where a father read bedtime stories. The kitchen isn't just a room. It's where birthdays were celebrated, holiday meals were shared, and difficult conversations took place.
The guest bedroom isn't simply extra square footage. It's where grandchildren stayed, parents recovered after surgery, or lifelong friends gathered.
