I always enjoy participating in the monthly #ActiveRainChallenge. I am grateful that Carol Williams and Debe Maxwell, CRS  are hosting this month's challenge. I don't think a whole lot changes in my neck of the woods during the summer months, but perhaps I don't pay attention enough, haha. I look forward to reading about what summer is like in other people's areas and perhaps discovering a great place for me to visit during the summer months, haha.

In the Phoenix Metro area where I live, the summer months are well known for high heat. It can get up into the 120's, but it is often a dry heat, so that 120 probably feels similar to 90 in areas that have humidity, haha. Most people can't stand the heat, but I prefer it to being too cold, so it being in the 100's doesn't bother me a bit, although when I am playing tennis in it, I get a much better workout and sweat out more toxins, haha.

I don't have kids, but I know schools are out for the summer months, so it's more common to see kids running around during the day. It seems that a lot of people in the area use the summer months for vacations since their kids are out of school and to get out of the heat. I need to find a good vacation spot during the summer, so I will be reading everyone else's posts for this challenge. Hopefully, there will be a place not too far from me that catches my attention. I am thinking within an 8-9 hour drive, so I can have My Boy Blue with me, haha.

I specialize in the East Valley of the Phoenix Metro area - Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale, Apache Junction, and Gold Canyon

Brian, 120 degrees is hard for me to imagine, even with dry heat. Summer in the East Valley certainly has its own rhythm, with early activities, vacations, and plenty of time spent finding ways to stay cool. I hope this challenge helps you discover the perfect summer getaway where My Boy Blue can join you.

I definitely enjoy it, Carol Williams but I don't overdo it outside during the summer months, haha.

Brian:

I've been in Arizona in the summer and experienced the heat, which is not unlike the California desert - one time when we were there in Palm Desert for several days with family it was 114 every day. Too hot for me. Sounds like you embrace the summer weather and all that it brings. Who wants to be indoors in the AC all day and never venture out for days at a time.

Jeff

Yes, I can imagine that it is a lot like the Palm Desert area Jeff Dowler, CRS which is why I have never had much interest in staying there, haha.  Since I am usually seeking cooler temperatures, I just drive through and keep going until I get to the ocean, haha.

Hi Brian! Thank you so much for jumping into this month's challenge! I always enjoy your posts, and this one definitely made me smile. I think most of us would have a hard time wrapping our heads around 120 degrees—even if it is a dry heat! 🥵

I also love that you're using this challenge as inspiration for your next vacation. That's one of my favorite parts too—getting to "travel" through everyone else's stories and discovering places I might never have considered visiting.

Please give My Boy Blue a salute from me! 🚙 I have a feeling you'll come away from this challenge with several great road trip ideas. Thanks again for participating and for sharing a little slice of summer in the East Valley with all of us!

I recently came up with an idea from a post that I saw Debe Maxwell, CRS.  Since the back seats in My Boy Blue fold down, if I buy a nice fitted mattress, it's basically a queen-sized bed.  So, I am thinking of checking out some campgrounds as a very affordable way to see some new places.  I could keep it charged and put it in "camp mode" with the air on, and be able to watch tv or listen to music, haha.

Holy guacamole, what a brilliant idea, Brian England! You could tour the nation at little to no cost. I LOVE IT!

Brian, my husband enjoys the summer weather in Tempe, and in the Phoenix Metro, too. Me, not that much, but I am OK with it. I like to go out of state around end of July beginning of August, and somehow I always enjoy it even more when I am back. Last year we had a nice trip to Santa Fe by car - via Payson, quite a scenic drive. In Santa Fe, it was raining 50% of the time, quite cool.

120 degrees and you are out there playing tennis in it. That is either extraordinary dedication or extraordinary stubbornness and I respect both equally haha. The dry heat argument is real though, I have heard enough people from Phoenix say that to believe it.

My Boy Blue clearly has good taste travelling with someone who knows how to find the best spots. If anyone in the challenge mentions somewhere within that 8 to 9 hour drive range with good trails and not too much humidity I would be curious what comes up.

Stay cool out there, or do not, since you clearly prefer it this way haha 🌞

Steffy Hristova it's kind of like being in the movies, and it is cold in the theater. It feels so good to step outside into the heat, haha.

Yes, without humidity Pelumi Oyekale it's more bearable than one would think, haha.  I have been with clients from a high-humidity state, and we were walking around in 90-degree weather.  They did not believe it, and said it felt like 70, haha.  I really hope that I learn of some great options for places to visit during the summer months.  It truly isn't all that difficult because when it is 100 degrees in the East Valley, a 2-hour drive north gets me into 70-degree weather, haha.  I guess I should have mentioned that in my post, since it is one of the things I love most about where I live.

Now I am wondering if the Phoenix dry heat is drier than San Jose dry heat, Brian England haha. Humidity is a game changer with heat - that is for sure. I suspect 120 degrees is something people just get used to - much like the cold and snow.

I have a feeling it is a bit drier here than in San Jose Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Real Estate Svcs. since you are closer to the ocean, but I truly have no idea, haha.  Hot is hot!!!

I also love the warm weather Brian England . Even though Florida is humid, it's still great because we can enjoy outdoor activities year round and spend more time at the beach.

Brian England - I have many relatives that relocated to AZ. Some decided to stay. For others when it got too hot, they bugged out to cooler climates. I went to AZ (during summer and hot seasons) many times but not when I lived in Texas. Each time, I thought I was having a heat stroke.

What I discovered was my body couldn't adjust to the heat in AZ because my body was conditions to northern Illinois weather. When I moved to Texas, I arrived on March 27, 1997. The spring weather was very comfortable. My body began to adjust to hotter temperatures as the years when by. One thing I like is that when it's too hot outdoors, I can always get in my air-conditioned car, my house, or a cool store and the short time I'm in between the hot days and an air-conditioned environment, I am okay.

My sister has lived in AZ for more than 35 years. She would never move. She adjusted and loves it.

What part of Arizona does your sister live in Patricia Feager?  One of the things I love about where I live in Arizona is that I am only an hour drive to cooler temperatures if I want to get out of the heat.  I have often thought that it would be nice to be a snowbird without having to leave Arizona, haha.
