A few days ago, I was out showing homes in The Villages when one of our typical summer afternoon thunderstorms rolled through.
My umbrella, of course, was safely tucked away... in my car.
There wasn't time to wait for the rain to pass. My buyer was heading back to Nashville the next morning, so I made a dash through the rain, grabbed the umbrella, and got her back to the car without getting soaked.
That's just part of life in Central Florida.
If you're thinking about moving to The Villages, you'll quickly learn that summer afternoon showers are part of the season. They often arrive quickly, cool things off, and then move on just as fast. Before long, the sun is back out and everything looks fresh and green again.
In fact, many longtime residents will tell you these daily showers are one of the reasons Florida stays so beautiful during the summer months. And after the rain? We often get some of the most spectacular sunsets of the year.
So if you're planning a visit this time of year, don't let the forecast discourage you.
Just do what I should have done...
Keep an umbrella handy.
