There’s Always Room for One More Book!
There are people who like books. And then there are book lovers. Today, National Book Lovers Day is for those book lovers!
We’re the people who say, “Just one more chapter” at midnight. (That would be me.) We buy books when we already have a perfectly respectable stack waiting to be read. (That would be me.) We have strong opinions about dog-eared pages. (That would be me.) And yes, some of us have absolutely canceled plans because the book was getting good. (That would also be me.) Books are truly my personal happy space!
National Book Lovers Day on August 9th is a very good excuse to put down the phone, pick up a book, and disappear into someone else’s world for a while.

Great Ways To Observe National Book Lovers Day 📖
📚 Start that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for months.
☕ Claim a comfortable chair, pour your favorite drink, and give yourself an uninterrupted hour to read.
📕 Re-read an old favorite—the one you know almost by heart but somehow never get tired of.
🏠 Create a cozy reading spot at home. A comfortable chair, good light, and a place for a stack of books may be all you need.
📚 Visit a local bookstore or library and come home with something you hadn’t planned on reading.
🎁 Give someone a book you loved. Great books are meant to be passed along.
👯 Swap recommendations with friends and see whose suggestion keeps you up way past bedtime.
📵 Turn off the television, silence the notifications, and spend the evening with a story instead.
By the way, if your “to-be-read” pile is already tall enough to qualify as furniture, National Book Lovers Day probably isn’t going to help.
Then again, at the end of the day... is there such a thing as too many books? 📚

Independent bookstores such as Park Road Books and Troubador Booksellers have long been part of Charlotte’s reading scene, while The Book Rack is a favorite stop for browsing shelves of used, new-to-you books. The Book Rack is one of my favorite books stores ever, anywhere!
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches offer books, audiobooks, digital collections, book clubs, author events, children’s programs, and much more.
Whether you prefer browsing the shelves of an independent bookstore, taking the kids to the library, attending an author event, or coming home with a fresh stack of books, there are plenty of ways to feed a reading habit in Charlotte.
