No,this is not blog posting about the weather, but rather an unhappy seller (the Rain) and a happy seller (the Sunshine). Let me explain.
This past week a vacant land listing seller who, less than 2 weeks ago thought I was doing a great job, talked to a friend who also was a real estate agent. Discussion it appeared turned to social media and how my seller’s listing did not appear on social media.
NOTE: I do not pay for social media as in this area people drive around as well as all vacant land listings are on various real estate sites. In the past I have tried social media paid sites as well as billboards without any success outside of a lot of wasted time and dollars.
Now the seller determined that I was basically incompetent. In checking out the other real estate agent who was a relatively new REALTOR® with only one listing that being a house, and with only one co-sale since the first of the year. Additionally, this agent was not local to this particular area of Mohave County.
The seller wanted me to co-market the listing with this other REALTOR®. Given how the emails from both the agent and the seller read, I referred the seller’s email and hence desire to my broker. At that time, the rain from the vacant land listing seller turned into a thunderstorm. My broker allowed the listing to expire early by less than three (3) weeks.
On that very same day, a new vacant land listing seller expressed her gratitude with these words:
“Thank you so much...you are excellent...blessings!”
I responded with:
“How very kind of you to write. Thank you. “
Then this Sunshine of a vacant land listing seller emailed me back with:
It's the honest truth....have a nice day...
My face broke in a smile which I shared via email to this seller:
“Again, you made me smile. Thank you”
Often, we as professional real estate agents experience sellers who were once upon a ray of Sunshine and then suddenly in talking to others such as family, friends or other real estate agents become Rain and often Thunderstorms with Thunder and Lightening. Suddenly we may question our ability as professionalThen we reminded as the Rain falls to appreciate this old expression, “Water off a Ducks Back.”
We shake the water off our wings and continue being the professional real estate agents who consistently demonstrate while moving forward toward more Sunshine.
