Weather Guessers

By

I've said it many times in conversation and here in my blog posts, they are not often spot-on, they are guessers. I don't know of any other profession where you can be so inaccurate so often and keep your job (out side of politics that is).

You would think that with over 100 years of records they could at least guess better. Despite the Global Warming alarmists I read recently that neither North Dakota and South Dakota have shown any warming over the past 100 years. Take a look at the forecast for the next 5 days... if anything we are cooling.

If you are scared of global warming then I'd like to welcome you to the coolest State in the continental United States, North Dakota. 😊

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning Bob. Nobody has consistently predicted what Mother Nature over a period of time. Yesterday, the warning sirens went off and very soon the storm hit us. They were right for once. Usually if you want to experience a change in the weather her in the Chicago area, all you have to do is wait 30 minutes. Enjoy your day.

Same here Wayne Martin , "just wait". I do remember a weather person, new to the area, said it is tough in the Great Plains because there is nothing to stop the wind no matter what direction it comes from.

Hi Bob,
The forecasters are better than they used to be, but it's still not an exact science.

Technology certainly has advanced in the field of weather Carol Williams but I remember our weather man from 60 years ago (Dewey Burguest) standing in front of his hand drawn chart with a pointer that looked like a broken pool que and I swear he was more accurate than our current weather people. 😄

Bob, I have said that for years too - 50% correct....usually, if we are lucky.

If we are lucky indeed Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner . Carol has two weather apps on her phone and I have yet another... they never agree with each other and only occasionally agree with the TV forcaster.

Hi Bob... I'm not much of a "believer" in global warming, but it is pretty gosh darn hot in Charlotte this summer.

Nina Hollander, Broker , I believe in climate change, after all how else can one explain that there is fossil evidence that North Dakota once had a tropical climate BUT to think change is due to your and my actions is just plain vanity thinking we have power over God's creation.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I'm just not concerned about global warming over the next 100 years or so. It's negligible if you ask me.

Hey Bob "RealMan" Timm

Weather forecasters always seem to take a negative stance. 20% chance of rain instead of 80% chance of sun. LOL...Minot, North Dakota, has to be one of the coldest places in the U.S. 😁

I'd say it is one of the coldest as well Doug Dawes . Thank God it is such a beautiful State.

I just looked it up, "what is the coolest state" and you are right - it's ND. That being said, the coldest temperature ever recorded in the continental US was in Montana - -70º in Rogers Pass MT on 1/20/54!

I am surprised that International Fall Minnesota doesn't hold the honor of the coldest temp ever Kat Palmiotti . Now I have to pull up a MT map and see where Rogers Pass is. 😁
