🚨🏡 HOME BUYERS: ASSUME YOU'RE BEING RECORDED AT THE SHOWING
Here's something every buyer should know before walking through that next house:
📹 The cameras may be watching.
A new LendingTree survey found nearly 3 out of 4 recent buyers noticed cameras or recording devices during a home showing.
And it actually changed behavior:
🚪 19% said they left a showing because of cameras
❌ 18% decided not to make an offer
📉 34% said knowing they were being recorded would make them less likely to submit an offer
But here's the part buyers REALLY need to understand…
🤫 DON'T NEGOTIATE AGAINST YOURSELF
Among buyers who were concerned about being recorded:
💰 22% avoided discussing their budget or offer strategy
😍 22% hid their excitement about the home
👎 21% avoided talking about things they disliked
That can matter.
If you LOVE the house, don't announce it.
If you think the seller would take less, don't discuss your strategy inside the property.
If you're willing to pay $500,000, don't casually tell your spouse or agent that you're willing to go $525,000 while you're standing in the kitchen.
🏠 MY ADVICE TO BUYERS:
Assume you're being recorded the moment you walk through the door.
Save conversations about:
✔️ Your offer price
✔️ Your maximum budget
✔️ Negotiation strategy
✔️ How badly you want the house
✔️ What you think the seller will accept
…until you're back outside.
And here's the other side of the equation:
Don't let a camera automatically scare you away from the RIGHT HOUSE.
The camera might be temporary.
Your mortgage could last 30 years.
Your house could be your home for decades.
🎯 Stay focused on the property, the numbers and whether it fits your goals.
📲 Buy smart. Negotiate smart.
