Who Is in Your Circle?

Dr. J.T. Anderson calls the final principle in our Blue Zone-inspired series “Right Tribe.” His point is pretty simple, the people around us influence how we think, eat, move and live. JT has seen that throughout his career working with athletes, patients and people who wanted to improve their lives.

I think we see the same thing every day in The Villages. You meet people playing golf or pickleball, at church, in a club, sitting at the bar or just walking through the neighborhood. Your tribe doesn't have to be large, sometimes a handful of good friends who encourage you, make you laugh, get you moving and occasionally tell you something you probably don't want to hear is plenty.

JT says we become stronger when we do life together and I like that. Maybe your tribe is neighbors, church friends, a golf group, card players or six guys sitting around a table playing nickel-dime poker and drinking a couple beers. Over the past several weeks JT has given us plenty to think about with all nine principles, while Michelle and I have enjoyed adding some of our own experiences along the way.

Seems appropriate that we finish the series talking about the people we choose to share those experiences with.

Yes indeed, our tribe(S) are so important to our life. We have several different tribes, and love them all.

Dick Betts I agree with TJ that "the people around us influence how we think, eat, move and live."  That is why I try to avoid negative people and only hang around positive ones.

Hi Dick- having your "tribe" around to share in activities, events, and just a cup of coffee takes on even more importance the older we get.
