And Then the Day is Upon Us, Class of 1966 Reunion

Back in June, I started the task of hosting the class reunion for my high school. It was special for a few reasons, it is our 60th anniversary, we were the first class to graduate from what was then a new high school, and I knew a few of our officers had passed.

Even as I viewed the photo taken at our 50th reunion, I would glace at the faces and seemingly recognize some.

I created a Facebook page, and did get some responses, a few of which were local and gave me a database of names.

From there it was develop a mailer and send out invites, 120 of them.  I got back the undeliverable cards, after all it has been 10 years. I did get some calls from spouses letting me know that the fellow grad had passed and some recently.

Buy I also got the calls from those very happy that something was being done and would gladly be attending.

So, as of this writing, I have a gathering planned of 34 and am also expecting a few drop ins, as that does happen.

Whomever does show up, there will be smiles, and I'm sure a few tears, (after all, I am a softy) and a happy few hours just being able to assemble and talk about the days and the fun times as well.

So, Class of 1966, from J F Kennedy High School, Waterbury CT your day has come.

Wow, a 60th reunion! I love that there are still plenty of you around to get together for a reunion!

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 oh what fun, Ed. I'm so envious... my reunion was cancelled. Just not enough interest. Part of the problem is that my class had only 53 people in it and as we were in NY City, majority of us have moved well away from NYC. Between those who have passed away and those who no longer travel, it's hard to get enough people to attend.

Hosting a 60th class reunion is such a wonderful milestone, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754! Putting together a gathering like that takes quite a bit of dedication and detective work, but reconnecting after all these years makes every effort worthwhile. I hope you and the Class of 1966 have a truly memorable time sharing stories and catching up!

Have a great time, Ed! I enjoy going to my reunions because our class was so small we literally knew everyone.

Good afternoon Ed,

Good for you for taking on the task of organizing your 60th class reunion! I'd say 34 out of 120 is pretty amazing especially if you might have a few more drop in! I'm sure you will have a great time and can't wait for you to blog about it!

Ed I have never been to a High School reunion, and don't even know if they have ever had one, but I would attend should I be made aware of one.

On the other hand I was going to make a remark like make sure the food is soft, but I will resist and not say that.  🤪

Hi Ed- Hope the reunion went well, and good for you for taking on the challenge of organizing it. We're going to Larry's 60th Reunion in October. It will be much smaller and simpler than the last reunion we went to. I'm not sure how many will be there.

PS hope to see some pics from it.

I hope all went well for your reunion.

I wonder how many of my high school classmates are still alive. (Cradock High School, Portsmouth, VA, 1955).
