Happy 120th Birthday, Coldwell Banker Realty!

Celebrating 120 Years Of Helping Buyers And Sellers Find Their Way Home

120 years old—and still one of the most recognized names in real estate.

Coldwell Banker Realty traces its roots back to 1906, when it was founded in San Francisco with a commitment to honesty, integrity, service and putting clients first. What began more than a century ago has grown into a global real estate brand with a legacy that has helped shape the industry.

Much has changed since 1906. Homes have changed. Markets have changed. Technology has transformed how properties are bought and sold. Navigating a real estate transaction has become increasingly complex.

Through it all, Coldwell Banker has continued to evolve while remaining committed to the principles on which the company was built over 100 years ago... honesty, integrity, and service.

For 120 years, generations of home buyers and sellers have turned to Coldwell Banker professionals for the knowledge, experience and service needed to navigate some of life's biggest real estate decisions. Coldwell Banker has guided more homebuyers and sellers than any other company in the history of America.

120 years is more than a milestone. It's a legacy... a legacy built on one home, on one client and on one transaction at a time—and one that continues today.

Happy 120th Birthday, Coldwell Banker Realty! Here's to 120 years of opening doors—and to all the doors still waiting to be opened in the next 120 years!

Good morning Nina. The amount of talent that runs through Coldwell Banker is infinite and only hampered by its size and ability to corral the talent. That said in many ares local management has done an excellent job while some have not. When humans are involved real estate remains local. I am betting in your area you have excellent management or you would be somewhere else. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin you got that right! Locally, CBR is a powerhouse and we do have excellent management.

Lawrence & Sheila Agranoff good morning, Sheila... I did not know that! For you Coldwell was the first brokerage. For me it will be the last brokerage! Some of the brokerages I've been with no longer exist as such: Halstead Property in NYC, RE/MAX, Prudential.

I remember years back when they became part of SEARS. I never quite understood the connection or reason why SEARS thought it was a good fit.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... that was so long ago I had no memory of it. And Sears divested themselves of their financial arm before I entered the profession. This was part of Sears trying to set up a financial network of brokerage, mortgage, insurance, etc. I guess it didn't quite work out.

Hi Nina,
I had a stint with CB early in my career. It was a good company, but I didn't have a good broker.

Carol Williams hi Carol... it always comes down to the broker. Whenever I've changed brokerages it was because of the broker.

I remember when I was first looking for a job after moving to Mesa, and Coldwell Banker was recruiting me.  I had no interest in doing sales, but alas, I ended up doing real estate down the road, haha.

Brian England hi Brian... when I first began real estate in Charlotte in late 1998, Coldwell Banker recruited me heavily. I didn't bite. Still not always sure whether that was a good or bad decision. In any event, in 2018 they finally won me over.

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... fewer than half of one percent of American companies ever reach the centennial milestone so Coldwell Banker is a bit of a rarity.

Nina I wasn't even aware that there were Real Estate companies around 120 years ago. Congratulations to Coldwell Banker.

George Souto good morning, George... there were real estate brokerages around since the early 19th century but they were usually small firms mixed in with investment brokerages. Certainly, nothing the size of a Coldwell Banker has been around for over 100 years.

Savvy + Company (704) 491-3310 - Charlotte, NC
The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

That's a long time and they have outlasted many of the older companies here in CLT too, Nina! Very early in my career, I hung my license at Coldwell Banker--very briefly. It was not the place for me! I exited with the BIC who left and built HAR to it's prominence in the Eastover/Historic areas; that was back in the day!

Aug 28, 2026 07:21 PM
Nina Hollander, Broker

Debe Maxwell, CRS good morning, Debe... Coldwell Banker (namely, Kathy Rebhan) recruited me like crazy when I started in real estate here in Charlotte. It was not the place for me. Then Kathy moved to HAR in Ballantyne, I moved to Ballantyne and she succeeded in recruiting me.
