When I was growing up there, it was the Bean Festival. Of course, there were a lot of beans and bean pickers back then. Now, the bean pickers are all mechanical. Oh well, sigh.

I  remember the Bean Festival!  I used to pick those nasty little things....Lugging that big dirty burlap sack to the scale to get paid .03 a pound.  I think I made $27.00 that year.  But hey, I was only 7 so to me that was big money and I bought my own school supplies that year.... and a few candy bars

Vicki-  A peach festival would be fun... there is a couple of local strawberry festivals with Lebanon being the largest.  Thanks for the comment!

Leslie - Sounds like lots of fun happenings in Stayton. We just had a Duck Derby down Ashland Creek that was a fund raiser for the pool, which went really well. That watermelon pick has me headed to get a big slice! Yum...

Karen- I am glad to hear your duck race went well.  I love seeing cute ideas for fundraisers.  I love the pic of the watermelon too.  Found it on Flickr...
