The Power of Positive Thinking

No matter where you're located, you're in a down market. I'm lucky. Being in San Antonio, we've avoided the bubble burst and sales have just stagnated a bit. Regardless, it's not like it was 3 years ago when you could walk outside and have a buyer fall out of the sky and hit you in the face. It takes work.

I've been talking to a lot of the more successful agents around me and I'm noticing the same thing. The ones that are making money aren't concerned about the market. Don't get me wrong, they notice it, but they don't fret about it. We cannot control the market. We're just along for the ride. But if you ask any successful Realtor, what you can control is your attitude. Negativity breeds negativity. If you think you're having a tough time in this business, you will. If you wake up and look yourself in the mirror and say "I'm a good Realtor", you will be one.

I've also looked around at the Realtors having trouble and most of them are complaining about everything. Some might see it as complaining because they're not doing well, but I see it the other way. I see that negativity seep into everything they do and it just spirals downhill.

I've been very blessed to do the amount of business I've done. I've got some of the most expensive homes listed in the city and my business is going quite well. I'm not a rocket scientist and I don't have some special magical system. I work hard and I don't worry about anything but doing my job the best I know how.

This isn't a new revelation. Positive thinking has always been a very powerful tool. If you're in this industry and you're having some trouble making it, sit down and think about your attitude and how it affects you. Start to believe in yourself. Start to tell yourself you're a good Realtor. When you've got some down time, hone your skills. Hold an open house. Put yourself in Real Estate Mode. Take a class.

With a little attitude change and a little hard work, you'll be shocked at the transformation of your business.
