Friday Flags: As A Nation Mourns a Special Lady

Morning Ed, I have had "Jolene" in my head for two days now!   She will be missed.  I put a post on the Quarteira FB page, and many have responded from here!

She was true example of get by giving philosophy!!! What a beautiful soul....RIP Dolly!!!

A woman that came from very modest beginnings, she always remembered her roots and embraced every opportunity to give back to those less fortunate.

Dolly certainly was a special lady, so it is really nice to see her treated as such.

Good morning Ed. Anyone who came be admired by everyone is special. Dolly was special and deserves the half mast tribute. If we tllstived to be like her maybe we could see progress and not chaos. Enjoy your day.

As usual you capture our flag waving proudly and this time at half mast honoring a truly special lady and entertainer, Dolly Parton.

Ed what I find remarkable about Dolly Parton is that she lived a very visible and public life, but remained pretty much free of controversy, and kept her politics to herself.

Ed- even your flags were honoring Dolly. What a remarkable human being. If nothing else, we can take away what she taught us...Be yourself and be proud of it!!!

Thanks for sharing this thoughtful tribute, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754. Dolly Parton's talent was remarkable, but her kindness and generosity may be the legacy that shines the longest. Posts like this remind us why some people leave such a lasting mark on so many hearts.

Oh such a great half-mast shot of our beautiful flag in the honor of such a beautiful soul, Ed. I JUST finished watching a special on her. She was one incredible human being; we need more like her on this earth.

Yes she will be remembered for a long time to come.  Yesterday I happened to hear a person share that he, a retired professor from Villanova University, started to sit in on a class at VU, which is a free perk for him as a former professor.  He noticed the professor teaching the class was from Tennessee, so he mentioned Dolly's passing, and the professor said it is because of her book giving program to children that he is  a college professor today, having been from a rural area of TN himself. Her books inspired and helped him.
