FINALLY got to meet these girls, and OH MY was that fun! A few were Brits, one other American from Atlanta, Brazil, and Scotland (Glasgow). I got there a few minutes after 10, and there was already a table of 7 or so, then a couple more came.
With this many at a table, this time I did not get to talk to the ones at the other end of the table, so I will need to make an effort to meet the others in a couple of weeks.
It was fun sharing stories of the AIMA office ordeal, and Julie from Atlanta has been waiting for 3 months already for her residency card. The lady from Glasgow (Wendy) said hers took TWO YEARS! But, you just have to take the papers you get that says you HAVE been to the office and turned in your paperwork.
They also celebrate birthdays, so on 9/14, we not only will enjoy coffee, then we will go to an Italian restaurant for lunch to celebrate "Joan's" birthday. She'll be 60! She is from Jersey, a small island closer to France, but between England & France. She was really fun to talk to also! The lady from Glasgow was SO brown, but she works in her flower beds every day, but doesn't go to the beach.
Had to look to see where this restaurant was, as they said it was up the "highway" a bit. I can only go so far on my full battery, but found it wasn't too far, so will be good. The menu looks good also.
A few of us exchanged our numbers on Whatsapp, and plan to see each other before the next coffee event. One invited me to a CAT CHARITY in Vale do Lobo. SO fun - 30 euros and you get lunch and the monies go to the kitties.
