Happy Labor Day To My Fellow Americans, Who As Robert Burns Said...
"Dare To Be Honest And Fear No Labor."
Robert Burns wrote, “Dare to be honest and fear no labor” more than two centuries ago.
“Fear no labor” is an interesting choice of words. It doesn’t simply mean work hard. It speaks to being willing to take on the difficult, tedious, uncomfortable, or unglamorous work that needs to be done—and not considering any honest work beneath you.
More than two centuries later, Robert Burns' words remain a powerful reminder of the value and dignity of honest work. And today on Labor Day, these words are also a reminder to us all to appreciate the millions of Americans who get up every day and simply do the work that needs to be done.
"There is joy in work. There is no happiness except in the realization that we have accomplished something."
