☕🍦 Happy National Coffee Ice Cream Day!
September 6th is National Coffee Ice Cream Day, which combines two things that were clearly meant to be together: coffee and ice cream. So there's no way I could have let this day go by without acknowledging it!
As a total coffeeholic, I’m probably a little biased when it comes to this particular food "holiday." Give me coffee in pretty much any form and I’m happy — but coffee ice cream? Now that's nirvana!
My absolute favorite? Coffee ice cream loaded with semisweet chocolate or espresso chips. That slightly bitter coffee flavor with little bites of dark chocolate is pretty much ice cream perfection as far as I’m concerned. I recently discovered Turkey Hill's Simply Natural Coffee Espresso Chip ice cream... and all I can say is "yes, more please."

Coffee ice cream has actually been around much longer than you might think. Recipes for coffee-flavored ice cream appeared in Europe centuries ago, long before anyone dreamed up pumpkin spice lattes or cold brew. Apparently, people figured out pretty early on that coffee could be improved by adding cream, sugar and freezing it!
So if you need an excuse for a scoop (or two or even three) today, you have one.
Happy National Coffee Ice Cream Day! And yes, coffee ice cream absolutely counts as coffee. At least today it does. ☕🍦
