Motivational Monday…Labors of Love
When my husband’s daughter was in college, she worked every summer at a local shoe store. This should have been right up her alley because she loved shoes. After a few weeks, she complained about the hours and how hard work was.
Larry’s response to her…That’s why they call it WORK.
Easy money had no weight: you didn't feel you'd earned it.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
For those of us who have been fortunate enough to have a job(s) throughout our lives, we’ve all been there. The Sunday night dread of going back to work on Monday, the feeling of exhaustion at the end of a workday, and the anticipation of a three-day weekend.
Then comes the question I know I’ve asked myself…Does any of the work I do matter?
It does matter, whether you're working for pay or doing volunteer work...it makes a difference.

Without ambition, one starts nothing. Without work, one finishes nothing.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
On this Labor Day, I’d like to celebrate all workers because what you do matters.
There is a ripple effect in the work we do…
The teacher who inspires a child to go to medical school and become a surgeon…
The surgeon who repairs a construction worker’s heart so he can continue working
The construction worker who repairs our roads and freeways for our delivery drivers
The delivery driver who can now deliver supplies to our small business owner
The small business owner who now has the supplies to keep his business going and pay his employee
His employee who can save money to buy his first home
The real estate agent who can help the employee with his first home purchase

Thank you to everyone who works for a living and for a life.
Somewhere along the way, every person’s work touches someone else's life.
Sometimes the greatest thing to come out of all your hard work isn't what you get for it, but what you become for it.
George Herman (Babe) Ruth
