Responsibility
Let me state this simply and boldly right up front. If you are not a responsible person you have NO business purchasing a home.
The following statements are being made in a Jeff Foxworthy fashion.
If you put off chores to go hunting or fishing, you are not a responsible person.
If you let things slide because of social events like a pig roast and a keg, you are not a responsible person.
If your pets cage, litter box, or back yard stink to high heaven, you are not a responsible person.
If NASCAR tickets are more important than making your house payment, you are not a responsible person. I actually experienced this when I was on the local board of habitat for humanity.
And of course it goes without saying that if an addiction to whisky or drugs are more important than your Childs wardrobe, you are not a responsible person.
Owning a home is a responsible, adult thing. If you have doubts that you are up to the task then keep renting... or remain a 35+ year old living in your parents basement.
