If you've spent any time around The Villages, you've probably heard someone say a house is “between the 6's.” For years I said it all the time, and most people who had been here awhile knew exactly what I meant.
The two 6's are County Road 466 and County Road 466A. Back when The Villages was much smaller, saying something was between the 6's was an easy way to tell someone what part of The Villages you were talking about.
Then The Villages kept heading south. We crossed SR 44, then the Florida Turnpike, and just kept going. Somewhere along the way I realized that telling a buyer who's new to The Villages that something is “between the 6's” probably isn't very helpful.
I'm actually trying to break myself of the habit. These days I'll usually talk about the Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood areas, or describe that part of The Villages as roughly 466 to SR 44. You'll still hear “between the 6's” around The Villages. At least now, when somebody says it, you'll know what the heck they're talking about.
