A Little Sunday Reflection & a Few Funnies!

By
Industry Observer DRE# ER40011786

Happy Sunday to you all!

This week I had more slots filled on my calendar, which is a bit different.   From the coffee meet-up with Zoe from the UK, then Friday I went to have my teeth cleaned.

I had searched for a dentist a couple of months ago, but thinking my last appointment was in Denver in April.  It wasn't, it was in January.  SO, luckily, here you don't have to wait for months to get your teeth cleaned.   BTW, the cleaning doesn't cost the same here either - it was 75€, which equates to $87.   Also asked how much a crown would cost, as I paid around $1800 for the last one in Denver.  It is 750€ ($870).  THAT is a huge savings!

Thursday afternoon, one of my neighbors from the building, her husband, and daughter were all having lunch at the pastelaria in the parking lot, and asked me to come.   So much to talk about!

Saturday was the cat charity in Vale de Lobo, and what fun!   The event was held in someone's STUNNING villa, and would have loved to tour it.   There were at least 40 or more attending.   Found most were from the UK, so easy to talk to all.   Met one woman from Quebec and one from Holland, otherwise everyone I spoke to was British.   No kitties, but an auction and a raffle, and no, didn't win anything.  Here was the street to the villa we were at.  Notice the beautiful cork oak trees.

Monday will be the coffee expat club again, and there should be quite a few more attending.   PLUS, two of the members are celebrating birthdays, so we are going to an Italian restaurant for lunch after coffee.   Should be even more fun!   I will have to UBER versus my bike, as we MAY have some wine, and I don't drink even a half of a glass and ride the moped.

Went to the Hope Festival Saturday night, weren't very many people, but it was only 7pm.

Have to wait to see the Broncos on Tuesday morning.  They play Monday night at 7 pm, so would be 2 am for me.  HOPE, Tuesday morning will be good.

Ready for some funnies?

Well, this won't happen, I don't have a muffin pan!

It was funny at the cat charity, someone said she had to come wrinkled to the event, she couldn't find her iron.   I thought of this funny!

Happy Sunday, and hope you have a wonderful day.

Good morning, Joan... the cat luncheon and event sounds wonderful. Not sure that I understood... did the Quebecois and Dutch women not speak English? The Dutch start learning English in school at an early age so most speak English and Quebec is bi-lingual. The only Dutch people I know who might not speak English are very old... although Chris is 88 and he learned English in school as a child along with French and German.

Nina Hollander, Broker everyone spoke English at this event, and yes the Quebec woman is bilingual, so is the Dutch woman, and hardly could hear an accent from her.   She was older than me too, so maybe she lived somewhere after Holland.

So, you do not want me to blabber the results of the Broncos game ahead of time? LOL. I am a Jets fan, so we generally always know the results of the game before it is played.

Joan, you are building a wonderful life filled with new friends, local events, and plenty of adventures. The cat charity sounds like a lovely gathering, even without any kitties present. I am glad you are being sensible about taking an Uber after lunch and wine. Happy Sunday, and I hope the Broncos give you something worth celebrating Tuesday morning!

I have had my 2 minutes of remembrance today for my husband has now been with the Lord for 2 years. And then in the beauty of early fall my dogs and I went for a cool morning walk, chatting to each other, no I am not going mad. Next is chat to Mum age 94 in England. I love Sundays it's always a bit of this and a bit of that.

Now as I have been absent for a while.....where are you?

Kathy Streib it was almost busier than I would prefer actually, but good with that for this week.   That first funny was funny.   Not much more, as most everyone speaks English, so haven't tried anything new this week.

WOW! You are super busy, Joan! It's like the doors just opened up for you and you're taking every bit of Portugal's festivities in. I'm not surprised at the healthcare/dental costs. I've heard so many friends talk about incidents they had there and could not believe the affordability. Many are talking about retiring there too! LOVE the funnies and shared the 6-7 with one of my girlfriends groups--we are forever discussing the younger generations and their lack of work ethic (mind you, not all of them)!

Debe Maxwell, CRS being retired, it seemed busy!   Affordability, wine, weather, No American politics and being close to travel to other countries is exactly why I moved here.    The immigration offices are really busy with so many moving here.   I thought that funny was really good.
