650 Military Ave Pikesville: Looks Small, Lives Large
Every home has a list of features. Some homes also have a story. When Kelly and Mette decided it was time to say goodbye to 650 Military Avenue, they did something very special. They wrote a letter to the future owner, not about square footage or kitchens or bedrooms, but about why this unusual home was created, the family it kept close, the improvements they made with care, and the memories they will leave behind. I could describe this house for pages, but no one can tell this part of its story better than the people who called it home.

"Dear Future Homeowner,
We wanted to share a little about this home and why it has meant so much to our family.
When we purchased this property, our vision was to create a true multi-generational home, a place where family could remain close while still enjoying independence and privacy.
One of the greatest gifts this home gave us was the opportunity for my mother to live in one of the apartments. Having her just steps away allowed us to share everyday moments that many families don't get to experience. Those years together became some of our most treasured memories.
Over time, we poured our hearts into caring for and improving this property. Many of the updates aren't the flashy kind that immediately catch your eye, but the ones that make a home safer, stronger, and more reliable for years to come. We replaced the plumbing, reduced the home's reliance on gas where possible, replaced the roof, installed new windows, added a new sump pump, created a safer basement egress window, replaced the front door, installed a new driveway, and added a fenced yard. We also made it a priority to keep the HVAC system well maintained and operating efficiently.
Outside, we spent years nurturing the landscape. Rather than simply planting for appearance, we gradually introduced Maryland native plants throughout the property. It was rewarding to watch them take root and thrive, bringing seasonal beauty while supporting local birds, pollinators, and wildlife. The gardens became one of our favorite parts of the home.
The neighborhood itself is something special. It is quiet, quaint, and welcoming, the kind of place where people take pride in their homes and appreciate the character of the community. There is a sense of peace here that is increasingly difficult to find.
While every house is ultimately made of wood, brick, and stone, this one has been much more than that to us. It has been a gathering place, a refuge, a place where family could stay connected across generations, and where we felt deeply rooted in the community around us.
As we prepare to pass the home on to its next chapter, our hope is that the next owner will find the same beauty, comfort, and possibility here that we did. We hope it becomes a place where new memories are made, traditions are built, and loved ones feel at home.
With warm wishes,
Kelly & Mette"
