Posts Just For You- This Week at ActiveRain September 20 to September 26, 2026

Every day, there is something to learn here at ActiveRain.  With this series, I highlight posts that gave me that lightbulb moment. It could be something techie, a post about Real Estate or other professions, about a place, or a person. Or, it could be a post that made me sit up and take notice!

Or…sometimes it’s a post that deserves more attention.

JohnSeptember 20:  John Martino    Why Do Floors Feel Springy or Uneven During a Home Inspection?

Do you know why??  Read on!

WandaWanda Kubat-Nerdin     Nerdin Gardens: Flavor Don’t Wait!

KenSeptember 23:  Ken Semler     Disaster Recovery Starts Before the Disaster: What MIT Gets Right

Ken’s post makes so much sense!  If you’ve lived in a hurricane-prone area, you’ll shake your head YES!

JonathanJonathan McNabb     VA Buyers Shouldn't Have to Defend Their Financing

I love the title. Have you worked with clients who used a VA loan?

We will all find ourselves in this role or the role of Care Receiver at some point. Good one, Debe.

Kathy Streib, thank you very much for including my post in this week’s Posts Just For You roundup.

What I especially appreciate about this series is that you are not simply collecting links. You are pointing people toward posts that make them stop, think, learn something, or look at an issue a little differently. That is what makes ActiveRain valuable when it is at its best.

I was especially glad that the disaster-recovery piece connected with you. The central idea is simple: if we wait until after the hurricane, wildfire, flood, or tornado to figure out how we are going to rebuild, we have already lost valuable time. Better recovery starts with better planning before the disaster ever happens.

Thank you for the kind words, for taking the time to read it, and for continuing to shine a light on so many thoughtful people and posts here each Sunday. I truly appreciate being included.

Ken Semler thank you so much. I appreciate what you said. Having list most of my life in hurricane areas (Houston and Florida) I've seen the damage to infrastructure. You can't bring in necessary supplies if the road are blocked. You need power for not just the residents but any building or clearing that must be done. And you can't build on a mound of broken limbs. I hope you conintue to write about this.

Ken Semler's point that disaster recovery starts before the disaster is one we live with on the Texas coast every summer. The houses that come through a storm best are the ones whose owners already had the photos and the paperwork done. Thanks for pulling these together each week, including Jonathan's post on VA financing.
