Friday Fun…Did You Name Yours???
Today is National Name Your Car Day! While I have no idea why or how anyone created this day, or why, let’s have some fun with it.
Yes, we named one of our cars!
Our first Prius was a champagne color. My friend’s daughter (Erin) and I were standing in the driveway, waiting for Larry. He was driving it from the dealership. He originally was going to buy another car but changed his mind that afternoon and bought a Prius. I had no idea!
When Erin and I saw the car, she shouted -
It looks like a potato. I’m calling it SPUD!
And that was that. We referred to our Prius as Spud from that day on.

Why do why we name our cars?? Anthropomorphism!
You bet…it’s the act of giving human traits or emotions to non-human things.
Think about how much time we spend in our cars. We equip them with what we need; we personalize them with bumper stickers or dancing dogs on the dashboard.
Think about your first car. Your freedom wheels! Your escape from asking your parents or older siblings for a ride! There was nowhere you couldn’t go! (Well, almost)
