AR October Challenge for 2026 - Tips & Tricks

By
Real Estate Agent with Appraisal Review Board, Denton County, TX 0506509

ActiveRain Tips & Tricks: October is a great time to get motivated to write your best posts yet! Thanks for the inspiration from Kathy Streib and Eileen Burns 954.483.3912 with a nudge by Debe Maxwell, CRS. Let's try to get 100% or at least 80% participation. Don't be a scaredy cat! Below are my Tips & Tricks just for YOU!

T - Tell us about yourself and how you got started in your business. Be sure to leave a Feature Photo.

I - Inspire us by creating an inspirational post about overcoming adversity. Create an image that matches your inspiration.

P - Post daily or as often as you can. The more you post the better you get. Put forth the effort to Write often and include creative images.

S - Strive to write stories about something that you believe will be helpful to others that will resonate with what other agents are going through. Show us a great FEATURE photo!

T - Think about being thoughtful. Perhaps you can start with including appreciation for your clients or express appreciation to someone who helped you on ActiveRain. Include great photos or images.

R - Reach out to someone who you’ve been following on AR and have a conversation together. Then write a blog post about how your telephone call or personal zoom meeting together went. Share what you learned about the other person. Include photos or images.

I - Inform us about what you’re experiencing in your own marketplace. Be honest. How are things going for you? Do you need help? Just ask! Then show us images that mean exactly what you mean.

C - Cook up a recipe that you’d like to share. Tell us about this recipe, such as, where did the recipe come from, did you follow instruction, or was it something you made mistakes with, but it turned out great! Make sure you give us a picture and/or image of your recipe.

K - Keep personal things personal, but can you share something you feel others should know about your life in the real estate industry. Create an image and also, you can choose to post for Members Only or to the Public.

S - Simply be YOU! Share with us the gift of who you are. Share your picture!

This is my entry and my original photographs of my favorite cats! 2 cats belong to my granddaughter, and the other one kept me company while I went on a retreat a few years ago in Tennessee.

Patricia very clever way to start each paragraph to promote this month's challenge.

George Souto - When I first read the Challenge rules, I was at a loss and did not think I had anything to offer. So, I did what I always do and how I taught my children. When at first you don't understand the instructions, go back and read to comprehend the words from the first paragraph to the end.

Once the logic clicked in, I followed the flow and came up with this idea.

I do believe in authenticity and consistency in being yourself. I learned people will recognize who I am by my writing style. Teachers in schools were very astute and knew who was doing their work and who was cheating. Over the years, I stayed connected to others with letter writing and mailing my letters and cards to family, friends, new people I met, and clients. People who didn't even know the other people I communicated with, always liked receiving my letters and complimented me because they appreciated how I wrote directly to them. Their compliments encouraged me to keep writing and just be me.

Hi Patricia- Creative use of TIPS and TRICKS!!!  My favorite tip has to be the last one...BE YOU. Let us get to know who you are. It's hard to say "write in your own voice" anymore because of AI assistance. However, there is a way!!!

Hi Kathy Streib - you will understand more about how I used my creativity for TIPS and TRICKS by reading my comments to George and William from above.

You might recall a previous challenge I initiated - Sharing the Gift of Who you Are. Everyone has a gift. Stealing another person's gift is theft. Being a copycat is unethical - that's so ingenuine. It doesn't take a professional writer, editor, professor, or teacher to recognize authenticity versus disingenuous.

AI is a tool. If used appropriately, we can improve. I think of AI as another way to make corrections, like the pink eraser, Liquid Paper, or correct-to-type. As far as letting AI do ALL the work - well readers are not fools. I use AI a lot for images I can't take with my camera.

Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI - That's pretty funny and TRUE! If you adore posts with pests, go on over to Corinne Guest's recent post about her Three Retrievers. She wrote a heartwarming story about her dogs and how they enjoyed her two acres.

Thanks, Jeff!

Brian England - thank you for the compliment. I liked how it all came together by sharing exactly what I do to write blog posts on ActiveRain.

We must always remember. At one time, we were all new at learning something different and who doesn't crave to have a sense of belonging. I took many classes that focused on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

Hi Christine O'Shea! I missed you these past few years. Welcome back to ActiveRain. Here's the link for you to get started on the October Challenge: October Challenge- ActiveRain Tips & Tricks: What Do Yo for Kathy Streib and Eileen Burns 954.483.3912 who are hosting this month's AR Challenge. I believe the last time we communicated by AR was during one of Florida's Hurricanes that ended up doing a lot of damage to Naples.

I am looking forward to seeing more of you on ActiveRain and I am wishing you success, good health, and happiness always.

Eileen Burns 954.483.3912 - It's one of the easiest blog posts to write about and our time spent is business changes over the years. People are curious by nature!

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

Thanks for sharing this fun look at the new challenge, Patricia Feager. It's just so neat how you turned those tips and tricks into a very clever guide for us. Those sweet photos of the cats sure cured my fear of being a scaredy cat!

Lew Corcoran - thank you for the great compliment and for letting me know I cured your "fear of being a scaredy cat!"

Totally unrelated, but my favorite cartoon was Sylvester and Tweety Bird! The older I get, the more I can appreciate how humorous cats can be. Also, you may recall months ago I asked for Prayer Warriors for my daughter. When I talked to her, she told me she wasn't feeling well and her cat wouldn't stop gently pawing the areas where she needed surgery. Her cat was very affectionate and wouldn't leave her alone. When she came home from the hospital, the cat didn't paw her in those areas where she had surgery, but wouldn't stop cuddling up to her while she stayed home.

Isn't that amazing!

Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming story, Patricia Feager! It's amazing how animals seem to sense exactly what we need, and your daughter's cat sounds like a true little guardian and source of comfort during her recovery.

Lew Corcoran - Animals are undervalued for their intelligence. If we only knew how smart they really are, would any of us be able to afford to own a cat or dog?

I will have to share what you said about my daughter's cat, "sounds like a true little guardian and source of comfort during her surgery." She'll love what you shared!!!
